White Snake Oil

wolf in sheep's clothing

though i hate the cliche

gifted by those who

see it his way


they send him money

with words of support

really more for

his ill wife now divorced


now it is time that

gifters reach out

with the assurance

in him they can count


claims he feels darkness

in the face of pure light

and overwhelmed by

others' true plight


i drank the kool aid

bought the snake oils

darkness is in

the soil that he toils

turns out he's a bully

a coward by trade

a wolf in sheep's clothing

and i've been betrayed

 

there's one silver lining

one lesson is gleaned

placed on a pedestal

he clearly leaned

Of Love

cherished memories

far too painful

to reflect upon now


they feel like cobwebs

cluttering the mind

of the helpless heart


though somewhere in the timeless

tears still flow

i know this great treasure is mine

Gentle Smile

as she sees her reflection

in the mirror

her face looks old and sad now

only she can see

her deep grief


at the very least

her face looks so

very different than it did

before she lost her true love

and why wouldn't it


and yet again her grace

will see the beauty in her face

in her gentle smile

the smiling eyes

of her gentle style
